The Brainerd Lakes Area hosts the 2013 Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival

The 2013 Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival is just a few short days away and promises to serve up tons of food, music, and fun for all ages in Cuyuna, which is just a short drive east of Brainerd and Baxter, Minnesota. Today we were informed that the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew, in Partnership with the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber, is excited to announce the 2013 Trailblazer Bikes Cross Country Race for the 2013 Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival. Their race team has been hard at work crafting a course that makes the most of the Mahnomen Unit singletrack, which is the home of trails such as the internationally-awarded IMBA Flow Country Trail - Sand Hog, Mucker Mountain, Hopper Hill, Roly Poly, and of course, Crusher. This race course is 90% singletrack with only 10% set aside to allow for racers to separate at important parts of the course.

Of course, all events proceeds after expenses are divided equally between the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber and the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew in order to fulfill their mutual missions of expanding mountain bike opportunities in the Cuyuna Lakes, which means more outdoor adventures for us! All racers will gather in the Crosby Memorial Park at 11:30am for a mass roll out to the Mahnomen Unit of the CCSRA. From there, three different race classes will be going out. Classes include the Beginner: 1 lap, 7 miles, Sport: 2 laps, 14 miles, and Expert: 3 laps, 21 miles.

In addition, Karma Race Management will be providing chip timing at this race. Karma was the timing partner in the 2013 Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout and the crew is very excited to bring their timing expertise to the summer event. Registration is $30 on June 7th (in-person registration). To register, click here. Medal/prize will be awarded for each top three finishers for each age division. Categories are men’s & women’s each <19, 20 – 29, 30 – 39, 40 – 49, and 50 plus.
